Indie Rock

Indie Rock originated in the 1980's in the UK and the US. Indie rock is a extremely diverse genre; with sub genres that include indie pop, grunge, jangle pop and others. It usually has a small budget in the production of their music videos. The music promo video is usually filtered in black and white. This creates a contrast between the picture and the action. It is mainly a performance video where the artist is shown throughout the whole video. They would mostly contain extreme close ups of the artist or the artist's instruments and long shot are used to show the band performing along with a cheering crowd. There are usually some minor narrative in the video that relates to the song but this is mostly overshadowed by the band or artist performing.

The setting is usually filmed in dark locations which represent the artist and the genre that they are in. The idea of the dark location shows that it is hidden and not mainstream. This allows this genre to be separated from the majority of the other genres.
They rarely use SFX because of their typical low budget but they do sometimes use SFX but is mainly pyrotechnics.

Welcome

Welcome to my A2 Media Coursework Blog. In this blog I will show the process of making a music promo video. I will be using an unsingned band or singer songs to feature in my blog this is to make my video original and to avoid any inspiration from the actual music promo video of a signed artist or band. Their songs I would use to make an appropriate music video which would either relate to the song or the meaning behind the song.
